2016 marked the 400th anniversary of Cervantes' death, yet the one-armed man of Lepanto lives. So much so that he continues to inspire those who, like him, create in the name of freedom. Fearless artists, who swim against the tide and stand up for their principles.
This is the case of the composers presented on this CD who, hand in hand with Tito García González, honour their vision and strive to connect with the audience and provoke a reaction. They all are exponents of tonality, so reviled in the last century by the avant-garde. This in effect gave rise to a cause at the heart of the Association of Neotonal Composers, as well as other musicians who chose fidelity to themselves opposed to any formal imposition.
Thus this CD, “Quixote in New York”, has evolved from the concert given by García González in the emblematic Carnegie Hall where he received the most sincere and stirring ovation of his career. Where to the audience, standing, jubilant, delighted, which left him speechless, he dedicated a "composition in real time" from three random notes that emerged from the applause.
Quixote is represented by many others: Emilio Coello, Albert Guinovart, Pedro Vilarroig, Consuelo Díez, Jorge Grundman, Marcos Cruz, Miquel Ortega, Alejandro Coello Calvo and Carlos Martínez de Ibarreta, whom Alexis Soriano has put together after Tito’s transatlantic crusade. And let's hope that many more will come on board, as this ship has just cast anchor.
Tito invites us on a journey to the capital of skyscrapers, with its giants of concrete as windmills and its avenues of asphalt as La Mancha. He paints a sound landscape that transcends the noise of the metropolis, and connects to our uniqueness in its diversity and independence.

En 2016 se cumplieron cuatrocientos años de la muerte de Cervantes y ‘el manco de Lepanto’ sigue vivo. Tanto como para seguir inspirando a quienes, como él, se atreven a crear desde el aliento que da la libertad. Artistas libres y valientes, dispuestos a nadar contracorriente para defender sus principios concretados en obras.
Es el caso de este conjunto de compositores que, de la mano de Tito García González, defienden su música, aquella con la que quieren hacer sentir al público y no dejarle indiferente. Exponentes de la tonalidad, tan denostada en el último siglo por las vanguardias. Una causa que lidera la Asociación de Compositores Neotonales, al igual que otros músicos que no quieren rendir cuentas a ninguna imposición formal más que la fidelidad a sí mismos.
Así ha nacido este disco: ’Quixote in New York’. Un proyecto que ha crecido a partir del concierto que ofreció García González en el emblemático Carnegie Hall y con el que cosechó la ovación más sincera y conmovedora de su experimentada carrera. Todo un público en pie, entusiasmado y entregado, tan desconocido como cercano, que le dejó sin palabras pero no sin notas, al que dedicó lo que él denomina una “composición en tiempo real” partiendo de las notas que surgieron entre los aplausos.
Un Quijote representando a tantos otros: Emilio Coello, Albert Guinovart, Pedro Vilarroig, Consuelo Díez, Jorge Grundman, Marcos Cruz, Miquel Ortega, Alejandro Coello y Carlos Martínez de Ibarreta, a los que se ha unido Alexis Soriano tras la cruzada trasatlántica. Y esperemos que suban a bordo muchos más, porque este barco no ha hecho más que levar anclas.
En este viaje Tito nos propone un recorrido partiendo de la ciudad de los rascacielos, donde los molinos son gigantes de hormigón y La Mancha avenidas de asfalto, un paisaje sonoro con el que alejarse temporalmente del ruido para escuchar los sonidos del alma, pero también enriquecerse desde la diversidad y la libertad, aquella que nos hace únicos.
